One of the Craziest Months of my Life

June was one of the craziest months of my life. I checked off 2 pretty significant bucket list items: Running a Marathon and Climbing Mount Rainier. I spent weekends in San Diego and Arizona. I managed some big changes and restructuring at Theory. I went to a real estate conference. I *attempted* to cut out coffee shops for the month (I cheated 3 times - desperate times call for desperate measures). I celebrated Pride for the first time in Seattle. And I spent a ton of quality time with family and friends.

It’s pretty insane how much can happen in a single month. June had its ups and downs, as does every month, but I am proud of myself for staying disciplined and focused last month. I’ve had several people ask me “what’s next?” after my marathon and Rainier. Honestly I have no idea. I’ve been anticipating June and working toward these 2 big goals for well over a year, so it feels great to not have to think about them anymore.

For the month of July, my “challenge” is to play a game every day this month. This might include card games, board games, yard games, etc. I’m a big game person, and I’ve been wanting to do this challenge for a while. I’m excited to be present this summer and make the most of every second!

Climbing Mount Rainier

Summiting Mount Rainier was THE hardest thing I’ve ever done. We left Camp Muir at midnight and climbed for the first 5 hours in the dark until the sun started to come up (one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen). It was insanely windy and cold, so we reached the summit around 6:30 AM, about an hour behind schedule. The hike back down the mountain was grueling too, especially with less than an hour of sleep the night before. We made it back to the base of Rainier around 2 PM after 14 hours of climbing.

Altitude sickness is a very real thing. Throughout the day, I was nauseous, light-headed, dehydrated, famished, freezing cold, overheated and dripping in sweat, sunburned, blistered, incredibly sore, completely exhausted, and had a terrible headache. Our mountain guides gave us many opportunities to turn back along the way, and it was SO tempting, but I pushed through the pain one step at a time and made it to the top.

Standing in the crater of Mount Rainier at over 14,000 feet was one of the most surreal feelings of my life. Driving home yesterday afternoon, I saw the mountain in my rear-view mirror and broke down in tears. Every time I look up at Rainier for the rest of my days will be a reminder that we can achieve anything we set our minds to!

I also made THIS VIDEO documenting my Mount Rainier Jouney :)

3 Things to Include in your Morning Routine

How do you start your day?

Austin Bond 2

When we started Theory back in 2016, we were one of the first real estate companies to utilize videos and social media to market our listings. Nowadays this is the new normal, so we are always thinking of ways to push the envelope and break through the noise. It’s easy to get stagnant, but I’m grateful for my creative team for always challenging the status quo.

Introducing Austin Bond 2.
Excited to present this one-of-a-kind property in Shelton!

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”
― John Lubbock
