A Month Without Social Media

I’m back! I completely cut out social media for the whole month of August. I didn’t know what to expect, but it was honestly WAY easier than I thought it would be. I spent the last couple weeks of the month reflecting on this challenge and figuring out my plan for social media going forward.

I absolutely loved how present I felt last month, and part of me wanted to completely cut our social media for the rest of time. But another part of me truly missed it. I missed telling stories and documenting memories on social media. I missed finding out about the cool things going on in my friends’ lives. As weird as it sounds, social media actually helps me live in the moment by forcing me to capture some of life’s special moments throughout each day.

Overall, the results of my August challenge were inconclusive. I like living my life in extremes, so I’m going to do the exact opposite challenge for the month of September and then compare the two months. For this month, I’m posting on social media every day.

I do know that I don’t want to go back to my previous habit of constantly checking social media at every opportunity throughout the day. And I’m still figuring out if I want to bring back the daily vlogs. One idea I’m going to test out is to only allow myself to post and consume social media during a certain time period every day. We’ll see how this goes. It’s good to be back!
