Climbing the Space Needle

Have you ever looked up at the Space Needle and thought to yourself “I really want to climb that thing”? Yeah me neither. BUT doing things that we don’t want to do is what helps us grow and makes us stronger.

Yesterday I completed the “Base 2 Space” Stair Climb. This is an annual fundraiser for cancer research. I limbed the 832 stairs to the top of the Space Needle in about 10 minutes. Somebody else completed it in 4 minutes, 9 seconds! Fun experience for a great cause. HERE is a little video recap!

My October Challenge

I've always wanted to learn how to solve a Rubik's Cube, and there's no time like the present! My challenge for October is to spend time practicing every day. I solved it for the first time yesterday, and it took me about 2 and a half hours. Hopefully it's faster the next time around!

Tough Mudder

Last weekend, I completed my first Tough Mudder 10K in Black Diamond. There were 20+ obstacles, and it was an absolute blast. 10/10 would do it again.

500 Days of Spanish

Last month, I hit 500 days in a row practicing Spanish on the Duolingo app. I studied Spanish in high school and college, lived with a Spanish-speaking family for 3 months when I studied abroad in Ecuador, and was 1 class away from getting a minor in Spanish. Last year, however, I spent a month in Central America and found that I lost most of my proficiency over the last 5 years of barely speaking any Spanish at all. If you don’t use it, you lose it! So I decided to introduce practicing Spanish as a daily habit. I spend about 10 minutes/day on DuoLingo, and I’m happy with my progress. Never break the streak!

Congrats Mark!

Last year on September 20th, I met with Mark at a coffee shop in Ballard to chat about buying his first hike. This year on September 21st, Mark officially became a homeowner. It was a really tough market to buy in, but we found a beautiful home that was well worth the wait. Congrats Mark!
